ARO Welding Technologies - Leader in Resistance Welding

Since 1949, ARO Welding Technologies SAS has been a leader in resistance welding technology providing the automotive and manufacturing industries with innovative robotic welding, manual welding and stationary welding systems. From spot welding and projection welding, to seam or butt welding, we provide the optimum solution. ARO is headquartered in Chateau-du-Loir, near Le Mans in France, with regional offices in Europe, the Americas and the Far East as well as independent sales and services partners. ARO is a division of the multi-disciplined UK engineering group, Langley Holdings plc.

Our history

1949

In Paris on the 24th June 1949 ARO was founded by Mr Albert Roland with a capital of one million francs. The aim: to manufacture and sell resistance welding equipment to the motor body repair industry.

1955

ARO opens its first subsidiary in Germany.

1958

On April 1st the Chateau du Loir factory was opened and began manufacturing.

ARO receives an Oscar from the French minister of finance and economics, Mr Antoine Pinay, for the exportation efforts of its products to over 21 countries.

1964

ARO celebrates its 20th anniversary. The company has demonstrated a steady growth over the first 20 years and hopes to maintain this into the future.

1973

IWKA buys ARO to allow the flexibility of a medium sized firm yet the technical and financial potential of a big firm. It is allowed product expansion into resistance welding guns.

Headquarters moves from La rue de la Colonie in Paris to Chilly-Mazarin, next to the factory.

1987

ARO welding in the UK is established.

1988

ARO delivers its first commercial project using electric motorization.

1999

An acquisition with American company SAVAIR is made to facilitate trading in America.

ARO obtains ISO 9001 Certification.

ARO celebrates its 50th anniversary with a 3 day event. Clients from across the world were invited to celebrate as well as family and friends of employees. As part of the occasion, ARO launched its new manual gun series: the Ergoline range.

2004

The building for the ARO controls division is constructed. They are responsible for researching and developing the controls and electrics for all welding equipment.

2005

ARO opens a subsidiary in Wuhan, China.

2006

In December of 2006 Langley Holdings plc acquired ARO Welding Technologies from German MDAX listed automation group, IWKA AG.

2008

ARO was awarded the Ford Q1 award after recognition for its high standard in quality.

2008 also saw the launch of the auto adaptive range.

2009

ARO launches innovative robot Weld guns range : 3G.

2012

Aluminium Welding Solution: launch for mass production (ex: FORD F150)

2013

ARO opens a subsidiary in Sao Paulo, Brasil.

2019

ARO Welding Showroom and Laboratory at the Cutting Edge of Innovation.
After two years of work and significant investments, the ARO Welding Showroom and Laboratory have undergone a complete transformation ! A true technological showcase for the company, these spaces have been entirely redesigned and now feature ARO’s latest solutions over an area of more than 250 square meters.

2020

The MUARO project, initiated despite the challenges posed by COVID focuses on modernizing and transforming the machining section of the factory.
Supported by the Fund for the Modernization of the Automotive Industry, the project has two primary objectives: improving competitiveness and reducing production lead times for aluminum arms and plates used in manufacturer guns.

2021

Commercial Launch of “Servoline”: A Unique Manual Welding Station with Servo Motor Technology

2022

Expansion of the Shipping Department.
On Friday, December 2nd, the inauguration of the new Shipping building took place. After more than a year of construction, ARO took delivery of its new facility at the end of November.

2023

The Milestone of 30,000 3G Robot Guns Delivered Has Been Reached! The 3G concept stands out and has now established itself as a global standard. This undeniable commercial success reflects ARO’s unmatched expertise in innovation and industrial performance

2024

In 2024, ARO celebrated 75 years of expertise in resistance welding.

ARO innovates by proposing SERVO manual solutions
